Kids these days are growing up the internet where everything is easier to find by searching online, but back in 1980’s and 1990s people were searching on directory books known as Yellow Pages. The yellow pages was a thick book that referred to a business information that was organized by category instead of alphabetically. Now, that everything is going digitally it was only right for them to switch online, however there are still yellow pages book being handed out.

Better Business Bureau  was founded in the early 1900s as a nonprofit focused on advancing the marketplace trust for business. In 2013, BBB was one of the 1,000 most visited website in the United States. However, BBB has been the subject of controversy for the simple fact that members who pay the fees are giving a higher rating, but BBB disputes that only those members receive a “A” rating.

On April 12th, 2016, Yellow Pages announced that they have integrated Better Business Bureau ratings within listings on YP.com and YP app. You might ask yourself, why is this important? Well that change will differentiate YP listings by bringing unique data to YP users. For example, BBB rates business based on letters like “A” or “A+”, so users can narrow down their search to the top-rated business. Last year we recommend to add BBB in our blog “4 Top Quality Sites to List Your SF Business.” Here is summary on why having a BBB and YP  listing is important:

  1. It can differentiate your business
  2. Become a top-rated business
  3. YP is free and one of the popular business listings
  4. BBB helps you create own deals
  5. YP has 70 million users
  6. BBB brings over 1.3 reviews (negative & positive)

Remember to enlist to Yellow Pages and Better Business Bureau to take advantage of users searching for quality business. It’s now more important than ever to get review for your business because without you’re missing the opportunity to attract potential customers. If you are having trouble listing, we can help! We also recommend our blog “Online Advantage Helps Your Business Succeed” where we actually recommend YP.
